Hello, this is Portland Audubon's Rare Bird Alert. This recording was
made Thursday, February 2nd. If you have anything to add, call Harry
Nehls at 233-3976.

On JAN 28 a female TUFTED DUCK was found among a diving duck flock on a
pond along Oak Hill Rd., west of Buena Vista, in eastern Polk Co. Take
Corvallis Rd. from Independence, southward about 8 miles to Oak Hill Rd.
An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and a SWAMP SPARROW have been seen in the
roadside brushy area near the lake.

An apparent hybrid CHESTNUT-BACKED x BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE is coming to
a baited area in Takena Boat Landing, across the Willamette R. from
Albany. The park entrance is at the second stop light from the bridge,
west of Albany.

On JAN 27 twenty GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES were on Sugarloaf Mt., in
western Polk Co. That day 8 [GRAY-CROWNED] ROSY-FINCHES and a SNOW
BUNTING were on Mary's Peak [Benton Co.]

The dark-phase GYRFALCON continues to be seen along Finley Rd., at the
entrance to Finley refuge.

On JAN 28 a female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was on Siletz Bay. BLACK
TURNSTONES, SURFBIRDS, and a ROCK SANDPIPER were at Seal Rock State Park
that day.

Immature GLAUCOUS GULLS were near the Oregon State Prison, near Salem,
and at the mouth of the Clackamas R. last weekend.

An EARED GREBE was at the Molalla sewage ponds JAN 31.

In an attempt to make it offshore sometime in February, there's an
offshore boat trip scheduled each weekend during the month. If
interested in searching for Laysan Albatross and other winter pelagic
specialties, contact Bob O'Brien at [503] 658-4047.

Tuesday, February 7, is Birder's Night at Portland Audubon. Meet in
Audubon House at 7:30 PM for the latest birding news.

That's it for this week.
