Tree Swallows aren't here yet, but some good signs of spring in raptorial
circles: rollercoastering redtails and tumbling talon-tangling eagles.
And more signs aborning: sporadically singing Song Sparrow, House Finch,
Bewick's Wren, Am. Robin in the past 2 weeks, even a few brief Black-capped
Chickadee whistles. Any others out there?

Also signs of spring among the flightless: treefrogs trying to hold the
remaining wetlands together with rivets, Indian plums hiding their flowers
in the woods as if a little apprehensive about pollination.

You are right -- I heard several song sparrows on my walk in the park near home
last Sunday. Cheered me right up. And the wrens too. Can swallows be far
behind?

I can't (or don't want) to believe that we could have snow on Sunday. Say it
isn't so. My bulbs all think it's late March...
