ju>And more signs aborning: sporadically singing Song Sparrow, House Finc
ju>Bewick's Wren, Am. Robin in the past 2 weeks, even a few brief Black-ca
ju>Chickadee whistles. Any others out there?

I was quite happy last summer when the Song Sparrows around our yard were
very successful in breeding. Melissa and I got used to hearing their songs.
Though they aren't singing every morning now we still hear them singing
quite often. This morning, as the sun hit the blackberries (about 9:00 AM)
they broke into song and the Juncos and Finches joined in.

The Bewick's, Robin's, and Chickadee's (both Black-capped and Chestnut)
have be unusually quiet this winter...

ju>I can't (or don't want) to believe that we could have snow on Sunday.
ju>isn't so. My bulbs all think it's late March...

I have tulips and iris blooming!!! The crocus just poked out of the ground
last weekend. The Indian plum, currents, and blueberries are all leafing.
The maples are budding. It appears to be spring!

Too bad it didn't get cold enough, for long enough to kill off some of the
insects. The mosquitos are already starting to get bad (NE Lake
Washington area). Last year from 10/1 to 2/1 we went through 150 lbs. each
of cracked corn and millet. This year we've only gone through 75 lbs. of
each and I pre-paid a good supply during a sale... :-(

Take care,
Bruce
