This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline for Friday, February 10, 1995.

On February 8, Dave Holick and I observed a SNOWY OWL on the
University of Idaho cattle farms west of Moscow near the
Washington border. The bird was at the end of the Sixth Street
extension, behind the barn, just south of the sewage treatment
plant. The bird is a very gray juvenile. This is probably the
same bird tentatively reported on January 16. Look for the bird
between Wal-Mart parking lot, the Old Moscow-Pullman Road, and
campus.

Today, February 10, Mike Denny reports 5 second-year GLAUCOUS
GULLS, 1 near-adult GLAUCOUS GULL, and 3 adult-plumaged WESTERN
GULLS at the poop piles just north of Walluwa, Washington, along
US 12. Also there was a suckleyi MERLIN and 1000's of blackbirds
with the potential for a Rusty or Grackle. See Washington DeLorme
p. 40, c-1.

John Miller reports a pair of WESTERN BLUEBIRDS investigating his
bluebird boxes near Moscow Mountain on February 9. We hope
they're not too early!

Phyllis Wicks had an unusual sighting for Moscow -- a pair of
RING-NECKED DUCKS on a pond along north Orchard Avenue on February
6.
