Subject: Kitsap County Species list compilation (fairly long)
Date: Feb 12 11:07:17 1995
From: SCRAY at delphi.com - SCRAY at delphi.com

Tweeters,

Many of you are already aware that with the aid of birders in our state,
including many of our 150 subscribers, Washington Birder is collecting data and
organizing species lists for each of the states 39 counties with the
objective of creating county lists that reflect the status of each species
known to have occurred in each county. After prelim lists for all counties have
been completed, the data will be transferred to maps that depict each species
distribution. Two preliminary county lists resulting from this effort are
featured in each quarterly newsletter.

We are currently developing lists for Kitsap and Spokane Counties. The
following preliminary list for Kitsap County was created from data provided by
George Gertz, Ken Knittle, Vic Nelson, Dennis Paulson, and Scott Ray.

All birders with experience in Kitsap Co. are invited to review the following
list and make corrections. Please advise if gaps in data are noted or you
disagree with individual species status notations. This list will be included
in the next issue of WB scheduled for late Feb.

Species status for the lists is defined as follows:

1 Common
2 Uncommon
3 Harder to find but usually shows up at least annually
4 Rare, 5 or more records
5 Fewer than 5 records
