Hi Tweeters,

Derek Marven of Duncan, BC, on the SE coast of Vancouver Is. just reported
this aft there were *4* Violet-green Swallows there for a first swallow
return for BC. Usually it's the Tree Swallows which come back, on avg, a
week or more before the VG's.

To quote Derek: "There's nothing like a late winter snowstorm to bring your
swallows back." Delivered with deft Brit dryness.

My thought would be, would they have kept going if the snowstorm had not
stopped them? If so, where to? I wonder if others went through Vancouver,
but since it's just cold and clear here, with no snow, that there was no
reason to stop except to drop in to say hello to John Ireland at the Reifel
Refuge :-)

Sigh. So many questions.
