In rereading my just-posted message about Priscilla's inquiry:
1) I should have read on to the end of the 1866 messages in my in-box to
realize others would already have more competently addressed her query;
2) my tone seems pompous, which I most certainly didn't intend;
3) its' early morning and I'm groggy! (the trees' shadows on the
moonlit snow last night were lovely - a rare scene on the westside -
makes me think of Great Gray Owl, for some reason);
4) the contributions (as usual for tweeters) have been very enlightening,
and I'll be eager to dig up the previous discussion from archives.
Brian Sharp's work, mentioned by Dan Stephens, grew out of that
Oregon Birds effort. We reproduced crude maps from Rappole, et al.
(USF&WS publication) which were nevertheless helpful in showing species'
entire ranges in the Americas. You might find them useful, since
Rappole's work may be hard to track down.
