I'm a regular (at least once a week) visitor to Marymoor Park, and have
found Canvasbacks to be regular, though few in number, on the stretch of
the Slough that flows through Marymoor, particularly about this time of
year. I've also seen a Virginia Rail there, crossing the Slough from the
cover of a ridiculously small patch of reeds to ... an even smaller one
(which it quite quickly abandoned for the first patch). Marymoor hosts
some rather unexpected regulars - e.g. for the last four years in a row,
in late March or very early April, a small flock of Western Meadowlarks
(10-strong at its largest) has stopped over for a few days (in 1993 it was
two weeks) in the open grassy area East of the Slough. Have seen Lazuli
Buntings in that area on two occasions - they might also be more regular
than those two sightings would suggest?
