Hi Charlie and ANYONE else wishing to occasionally suspend their tweeters
mail,

When going on vacation send the following message to:
listproc at lists.u.washington.edu
-------------------

set tweeters mail postpone

-------------------

This will STOP rather than "postpone" your mail, until you send the
the following message to:
listproc at lists.u.washington.edu
------------------

set tweeters mail ack

------------------

This will restart your tweeters mail.

Using this process would be much better for me as I am still maintaining
a separate list of tweeters subscribers who are not subscribers to
Birdchat. To this partial tweeters list I occasionally forward
"selected" messages from Birdchat, when the mail on tweeters slows down.

People receiving these messages will see the header:

/\___/\ **********This message intended for the *********** /\___/\
| O O | multiple recipients of | O O |
|___V___| TWEETERS |___V___|
NOT subscribed to BIRDCHAT

When people subscribe and unsubcribe for vacations it makes my efforts a
lot more time consuming. Also it's actually easier to "set tweeters mail
postpone" than to go through the unsubscribing/subscribing/passwording
business.

Currently there are 285 regular subscribers on tweeters of which 65 also
subscribe to Birdchat.

Thanks for asking this question, Charlie. I imagine you didn't expect
such a lengthly response! ;-)
