Thanks for the info, Susan; I'm way out of date, I guess. But it *is* a
wonderful feeling to discover that one of your wishes has already come
true. Magnuson is next!

Just to show you the difficulties of being in a minority group (compare the
number of dog walkers with the number of birders at Magnuson Park), I was a
consultant to the design team that did the landscaping for NOAA at Magnuson
Park. I recommended, wheedled, cajoled, insisted even that they dredge a
couple of shallow ponds that would function like the ones at Montlake Fill
to attract shorebirds and waterfowl, and they essentially ignored me,
probably at least in part because the head of the team had no interest at
all in nature. But we obviously still don't have very much clout.
