A little fresh water does amazingly little damage to binoculars if it's
promptly dealt with (salt water isn't quite so benign). If you do find
water has penetrated your binocs, take them to The Captain's Table at
Fisherman's Wharf in Ballard. Their optics department is where the
fishing-boat captains routinely take their binoculars after what they put
them through on an average trip. The guys there are very helpful, and
will put your binoculars in their vacuum-chamber overnight. In most cases
this gets rid of the water without even the need for disassembly, even
when the prisms & lenses are all steamed up.
