After being rather shocked by the cost of the big SAS trip this weekend
to eastern Washington, I decided that it was too rich for me. But I've
been wanting to make at least one trip over there during the winter to
try to see the flocks of Rosy Finches, Bohemian Waxwings, and Snow
Buntings we read about on Tweeters, and maybe some of the great owls--
not just gray--that are occasionally reported. I've made lots of birding
trips over the mountains during warm weather, when my Acura Integra does
very well, but it's not equipped for snow and ice driving, and I haven't
felt confident about driving over during the winter. Does anyone have
plans to go over there for a day or two in a proper vehicle--and would
you have room for one more? I can offer intermediate-to-advanced-level
expertise, good eyes, poor ears, and a great Kowa scope--and shared
expenses, of course.
