I think a better (or at least equally good) Eastside place that I seldom see
discussed is Juanita Bay Park. You can see an awful lot there just by
taking a stroll on the boardwalk (a great place to set up a scope and scan
the hundreds of waterbirds there in the winter). This place has just about
every kind of wetlands there is (except salt marsh, of course!!). The new
boardwalks recently added at the south end of the park provide access to
additional areas - I have seen rails, green herons, eared grebes, and a wide
variety of other waterbirds, shorebirds, and passerines, along with various
raptors overhead. Birds that have disappeared elsewhere tend to stay here
late in the season or overwintering. I think it rivals Montlake Fill, it
just gets less attention. The people (and their dogs) are relatively
well-behaved and I have struck up many an interesting conversation with
other birders there. I was curious if anyone does routine bird surveys at
Juanita Bay Park - it would probably be a very good place to do so. Teresa

I was intrigued with the original posting concerning Marymoor and the
birding opportunities there. Unfortunately, a good thread went south
pretty quickly.

Does anyone have something to say about birds at Marymoor?
