Hi tweeters,

The recent thread on Hummingbirds reminded me a question I had about the diet
of feeders dependant Hummingbirds (e.g. Anna's in Washington, B.C, and even
Alaska).

I suppose the food given to them is mainly sugared water. Is there any nutrient
missing there ? I understand that "wild" Hummers will eat a few insects too,
when browsing for nectar in flowers. Are these proteins important or just an
unimportant extra ?

P.S. I suppose this is a kind of Frequently Asked Question, but being a novice
birder here, I post it anyway !
