This last weekend I saw an odd male American Wigeon. Unlike all of the other
males, this one has a bright buff (almost rufous) chin and cheeks. Everything
below the green mask was of this colour. I thought that it may have been
staining, but it didn't look like it. Otherwise the bird was a perfect drake
American Wigeon, no sign of hybrid origin.
