This afternoon a number of House and Purple finches were mate-feeding on my
screen feeder. I've also seen two or three male flickers following single
females, bobbing, displaying, and doing the ol' wicka-wicka-wicka call.

The darndest thing is for the past three mornings we've had eight Varied
thrushes in our ravine whistling away for about two hours at a time. They
sound like a pack of kids that just got the three-toned whistles that come
in a box of Captain Crunch. I've counted as many as six definite males at
one time but haven't gotten a good look at the other two. I haven't seen
any females around for awhile so I'm not sure of the sex of the other two.

If only the grass would stop growing for awhile...
