Subject: band-tailed pigeon decline?

Mark Freeland's report of Band-tailed Pigeons begins with "recent severe
decline." How do other tweeters feel about this? I guess I haven't
noticed that there has been such a thing, as I had up to 50 at my feeder in
Seattle last winter (only 20 or so this winter, but they vary from year to
year), and I still see lots of them doing display flights over the
much-modified landscape on my commute from Seattle to Tacoma in spring and
summer.

Is this "decline" severe? Is it widespread? Is it real? On what are
these statements based? We still don't have enough participation in this
bulletin board by state and federal agencies, whence come these statements.
Any relevant info from the Gap Analysis people?
