Saturday, February 25, 1995.

A SWAMP SPARROW was found at Whitcomb, out on the island on the south tip
at the river's edge, in with some song sparrows. Whitcomb is just south
of highway 14, about 5 miles east of Klickitat County in Benton County.
Found at Crow Butte State Park, also located just off highway 14, about 1
mile east of Klickitat County line in Benton County were a VIRGINIA RAIL
and a LONG-EARED OWL. In Paterson, located at the junction of highway 14
and 221 in south Benton County, just south of the railroad tracks by the
boat launch were found an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and a TREE SPARROW. On
highway 730, along the Columbia River, 1/2 mile south of the Washington
border, in Umatilla County, were 2 CHUKAR seen on the railroad tracks on
the river side of the highway. At least one WESTERN GULL and at least
three GLAUCOUS GULLS were seen on the "poop piles" just north of Wallula
Junction south of Tri-cities. A "KRIDER'S" RED-TAILED HAWK was seen with
several Ravens, Red-tails, and Roughies on Byrnes Road, west of Walla
Walla. Also seen there was a PRAIRIE FALCON. Southeast of Touchet on
Sand Pit Road was found a NORTHERN SHRIKE and on Detour Road was seen an
immature GOLDEN EAGLE.
