There's been a lot of confusion about this thread... I guess the original
note was posted elsewhere. I'll comment, anyway!

I'll just say: I was enthralled the first time I heard this beautiful,
twittering song. I was AMAZED to see that it was my raucous, nearly-tame
Steller's Jay. // This particular bird was totally satiated with the food
and the stashing-activity that my peanuts had just provided. While it
sang, it sat in a dogwood in my yard, perhaps hoping for more
entertainment?-I don't know. This was early last summer. // I hear no
twitterings/ or "whisper songs" during the winter.

It reminded me of a pet parakeet who talks itself to sleep, head under
its wing, sitting on its swing. "All's right with the world."

And so what do those astute birders among us surmise? (I grew up in the
Midwest, and never heard anything like this from Blue Jays.) "Whisper
songs." I really like that!
