Check the UW folks. At least some of the grad students there band for
their projects. I'm sure they'd accept volunteer help! Actually,
Dennis Paulson might be a good person to ask.

Bud Anderson (sorry, I don't have an address) bands raptors in winter
in Washington (road trapping using bal-chaltris (sp?)).

I band in the Goshute mountains on the Utah/Nevada border which was the
basis of my comment regarding meeting younger birders via banding.
Our group has also cooperated with a falconer in Washington on hsit
(his) efforts to band in central Washington - last year was his first
"real" year (just experimented the previous year).

If you're interested in raptor banding possibilities keep my e-mail
address around and bonk me in June. Our Nevada project requires a
crew of about 25. We take people for anywhere from 10 days to the
full season (mid-August to end-October, with mid-Sept being the peak).
We banded 4,680 hawks this past fall. We are always interested in
experienced banders who are fit enough to backpack to 9,000 ft. and
don't mind living for a short while in some of the most beautiful
country the Great Basin offers - we overlook the Great Salt Desert.
Tent living, but we have a cook. Mostly volunteer opportunities (free
food though), with some money available for travel stipends and occasionally
"salary" (if you consider $75/week a "salary"!).

Oh, I'm sure Dennis knows Bud's address. I haven't seen him on the net,
though.
