Cycling to work this morning I came upon a large mixed flock of ducks on the
Sammamish slough. I always hesitate to share these because I don't know
which species might be of interest but here goes.

Ring-necked (the one that is a little rare over here)
Scaup (couldn't tell which in morning greyness)
Am. Wigeon (really looked but saw no Eurasian)
Mallard (wow, but the plumage is particularly nice right now)
Bufflehead
Hooded Merganser

This flock was thoroughly mixed on the banks and in the water. We have lots
of Common Goldeneye in the area as well. Overall duck populations are
*down* along the slough this winter. Major change has been the new Redmond
golf course and increased construction up by the Red Hook brewery.
