Gee, and I wrote about Barbara Robert's observation regarding this
before reading your note. Pervasive, isn't it? And, I suspect it
is due to your common gender, not shared first name :)

A woman friend turned me on to a phrase years ago, don't know how
widespread it is, applicable to men who must be right rather than
accept the judgement of a woman, or admit that they might know more
about the subject at hand: "Male Answer Syndrome".
