A note to temporarily interrupt the burning social issues of the list,
but I wanted to report that today 1/7, Rick Sanders, Dean Drugge and I
saw 4 species of loon on the Quimpen Peninsula (Pt. Townsend, etc.,
Jefferson Co.) including a Yellow-billed Loon off Beckett Point
(P. 94 T 30 N, R 2 W). The Y-B Loon was within 100 yards offshore with a
Common Loon nearby for a good comparitive study (about another 100
yards offshore were 29 Pacific Loons). There were also good numbers of
Ancient Murrelets off Point Wilson Light. I am 37, Irish-American, male,
astigmatic and totally thrilled.
