I am interested in why this species is considered destructive. The only
exposure I've had to them is from a National Wildlife Federation publication
(hence, admitting that I'm essentially ignorant of the bird's behavior) which
raised a very interesting argument for tolerance of this species:
they may fill the void left by the extinction of the Carolina Parakeet.

This may be a completely uninformed opinion (the NWF's, mine *is*) of the
Monk Parakeet, I just thought that I would ask someone who may know...
