I throw my lot in with the list lumpers and against the list
splitters.

If memory serves, the notion of list splitting arose after an
outburst of discussion and badinage on the pedigrees of birders--
especially hot-shot birders. Although I did not read every message
on the subject (I delete freely and imperiously), I found it quite
reasonable--on Heisenbergian principles--that Tweeters should devote
some time and space to the nature of bird OBSERVERS.

In general, I don't at all mind Tweeters stooping to and chasing
fluttering digressions at times. We eventually return to our
perches.
