The Douglas Creek area that Dan Stephens mentions and also wrote up in
Washington Birder is a long time favorite area of Wenatchee area birders.
Typically someone leads a field trip into the area every spring. And yes
you do encounter Western tanagers as thick as Christmas ornaments.

A little earlier in the spring (April), this is also a good area for
migrant raptors. The walls of Moses Coulee provide a good updraft for
birds
moving north. I spent an afternoon just watching the birds come in low,
hit
the updraft, and then shoot straight up into the sky. It made a challenge
to
identify them before they became small dots in the sky.

And for you herp people, Moses Coulee and Douglas Creek provide some great
summer night driving habitat.
