To commemorate European and near-European countries, there's a Spanish
Sparrow and a Corsican Nuthatch and a Scottish Crossbill and a Syrian
Woodpecker.

To commemorate other European localities, there's a Slavonian Grebe and a
Mediterranean Gull and a Bohemian Waxwing and an Andalusian Hemipode and a
Manx Shearwater and a Dalmatian Pelican and a Ural Owl and a Kentish Plover
and a Levant Sparrowhawk, Alpine swift, chough, and accentor, Caucasian and
Caspian snowcocks, and of course a Caspian Tern. Which of these occur in
North America?

It would be interesting to know if in the names for birds in other European
languages there were other countries or localities commemorated.

While we're on the subject of names (since rare bird sightings seem to be
at a lull today), there are a lot of birds out there to contemplate: the
Free Willet, the Good Willet, the Thank Godwit, the Superstarling, the
Stormy Nightjar, the Outof Petrel, etc. And I forgot one from before: the
French Frycatcher.
