Hello, this is Portland Audubon's Rare Bird Alert. This recording was
made Thursday, January 5th. If you have anything to add, call Harry Nehls
at 233-3976.

A dark phase GYRFALCON has been observed at Finley refuge since late December. A
gray phased bird is being watched east of Joseph. Take the Imnaha road eastward out of
Joseph, turn left on Dobbin Road. Drive to Bicentennial Lane and turn right on to
Bicentennial. Continue to Krages Road. Turn on to Krages Road and watch for the bird
on the curves along Krages Road. Another GYRFALCON was reported near Baker City
DEC 29. Another was found on the Pendleton Christmas count [Umatilla Co. CBC].

A wintering YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT is coming to Mike Uhtoff's feeders in
Ashland.

A SAY'S PHOEBE is wintering near the State Wildlife Headquarters at E. E. Wilson
wildlife area north of Corvallis.

The Tillamook SAY'S PHOEBE and Netarts Bay EMPEROR GEESE continue to be
seen.

A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was observed north of Florence DEC 22 flying across
Hwy 101 near Lily Lake.

The [NORTHERN] GOSHAWK continues to be seen in downtown Portland. It is most
often observed in early morning near SW 12th and Salmon Streets, and southward
towards PSU. A pair of PEREGRINE FALCONS is also in this area. The BLACK-
CROWNED NIGHT-HERON roost in North Portland is active again this winter with 13
birds found there on the Portland Christmas count [DEC 31]. A RED-NECKED GREBE
was on the Willamette River at Swan Island on count day. A SORA was in Beaverton. A
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was coming to a SE Portland feeder. An OSPREY was near
Oregon City JAN 1.

The BLACK SWAN continues to be seen at the Sheridan sewage ponds.

Two PINE GROSBEAKS were found on the Hood River Christmas count near Parkdale
[JAN 1]. Four LONG-EARED OWLS were on a roost south of Pendleton DEC 31. A
WESTERN GULL was at McNary dam that day.
