The first bird brought to the zoo is doing well. It is eating quail on its
own so tube feeding volume is being reduced to the amount required for
medication. Her weight is up another 20gm again today. The infection in her
throat will need further debridement but the necrotic tissue continues to get
more and more discreet from the healthy tissue around it.

On a related note, the Discovery Park Bald Eagle nest fell apart a few days
ago. A male chick dropped to a lower branch then to the ground. It was not
able to get back up into the tree and the parents were not feeding it. After
observing it, and its inability to fly, for a couple of days, the staff went
in a picked it up and brought it to the zoo. It is weak and underweight from
not eating but appears healthy otherwise. It will be fed until it gains
strength. A hacking box is under construction.
