I've visited Fidalgo Bay, on March Point (Shell Oil refinery), a couple of
times and always found it accessible to my binoculars - i.e. didn't need a
spotting scope as the more extensive Padilla Bay seems to require. Yesterday
I saw about 50 WESTERN SANDPIPERS (in adult plumage), in two flocks, feeding
with several Killdeer.

On the Padilla Bay side of March Point were a couple hundred Caspian Terns,
50+ Great-blue Herons, several hundred Glaucous-winged Gulls and dozens of
Ring-billed Gulls.

The interesting part of all this occurred when a BALD EAGLE flew from a March
Point tree to the sand bar where most of the herons and terns were resting:
the herons and terns rose into the air into two single-species flocks (yes,
this is the first time I've seen Great-blue Herons flock)! Beautiful.
