Bob Sundstrom and I spent a couple of hours at the Kent Ponds, which have
been drained and are quickly drying up. The shorebirding has been pretty
good for the last few weeks, but it seems that the two main pond areas
will be dry within a short time, so go soon if you want to see shorebirds
there.
Seen this a.m.:
1 adult Pectoral Sandpiper
3 Semipalmated Plovers
~12 Greater Yellowlegs
30-35 Long-billed Dowitchers
~6 Spotted Sandpipers, 2 in juvenal plumage
~100 mixed Least & Western Sandpipers
34,678 Killdeer(s)
likely Solitary Sandpiper (heard and fleeting glimpse)
4 Green Herons
Eastern Kingbird was not observed today
