Tweets--

There have been enough on and off net requests for particulars
re: the *All Tweets Do* next Friday July 28 to warrant a repost of the

Subject: First Annual Birding/Yakathon Site

Greetings, Tweets--

Burt G. & I surveyed Discovery Park and were given the *relevant*!? info by
Julie in the Visitor's Ctr...we decided we'd go a bit further and see what
was near the actual site...we stopped and asked the guy weed-whipping the
area by the Indian Center, whose name was Sonny, for info..he was helpful &
nice..fortunately, in the ensuing conversation, he mentioned off-hand that
A POW-WOW WAS SCHEDULED THAT WAS TO DRAW 100's OF PEOPLE FOR THE SAME NIGHT!!
We couldn't believe this Julie person didn't tell us that little piece of
info...It was an incredible piece of luck that we got to talk to
Sonny...needless to say, we bagged Discovery Park.

And now, the good news!!

On Sonny's reccomendation, we tootled on up to *Carkeek Park*...located off
3rd St and 110th... It looks like a really nice place...it has reservable
tables, so I reserved 4 tables #15,16,17 & 18 at $5.00/ea for Friday July
28 from 5 pm - 9 pm (when they want us out of the park)..there is a small,
sheltered cooking area there complete with charcoal cookers for our use..
so, it's possible to grill burgers, dogs, etc..there's a parking lot within
50-100' of the tables and access to the Sound and a *truly amazing view*
of the water. Seems like it's got everything..including indoor *facilities*
a short distance away...the place is surrounded by trees and it looks like
**good birding area**...this place is so conveniently located with easy car
access that it will be possible to bring lawn chairs, heavy coolers,
etc..as carrying distance is short..there is another area located down below
this one that is open field surrounded by woodland..I think there will be
something for everyone at this location..We probably won't have the whole
park to ourselves, but when I talked to the schedule person this pm, she
said there was a Girl Scout picnic until 4 pm and after that there was no
other reservation except ours...she is mailing me a brochure on helpful
hints for the area, a map, directions, etc., all of which I'll share
with you as soon as I receive it..

My Seattle map says--

from the South: I-5 to 85th...go left on 85th to 3rd..turn right on 3rd.
to 110th...turn left and follow 110th into the Park...

from the North: I-5 to Northgate Way (becomes 105th) right on Greenwood to
110th...left on 110th into the Park.

So, there you have it...

July 28 Friday 5-9 pm
Carkeek Park

Bring everything you want to eat, drink etc...and your binos..

Thanks to all of you who responded with suggestions and other helpful hints..
particular thanks to Lisa Smith for assistance above and beyond the call...

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you, even though I know most of you
won't look like you...I'm familiar with this phenomenon because of the
radio show and people who refuse to believe I'm me...

Friday was the choice of day to accommodate the out-of-town *Tweets*, so we
look forward to meeting some of our Oregon, BC, etc friends...

It also occurs to me that, if some of you in Seattle have a piece of
floor you might loan for the out-of-town *Tweets* to roll out on (Gad,
there goes the neighborhood) you might consider posting that invitation...

Tom
