Ahhh, this kind of stuff goes around the photo groups occasionally...

Flourite is a process used to prevent breadwrong.

It's FLUORITE for lenses.

Actually, calcium fluorite. It's a crystal which
needs to be grown - they make cylindrical slugs which are then
sliced, ground and polished. Not to different that making wafers
for semiconductors. Anyway, this is why fluorite elements are
so expensive.
