Gary Duvall was good enough to point out privately to me that I misspoke in
my post on
sustitution of another material for steel and lead shot. I said barium
but meant to say *bismuth*! Bismuth has a density halfway between steel
and lead, making it more effective than steel for hunting, and its
compounds are virtually non-toxic. Indeed, the element can't be found
listed in most references on eco-toxicity.
