In a note from Terry Wahl: "I suppose Tweeters is full of stuff like the
Caspian Tern nesting crash at Grays Harbor (Whitcomb Island is wiped out -
perhaps world's largest colony gone due to dredging!) and wide dispersal of
non-breeders. Dept. F&W said to be going to look at the problem NEXT YEAR."
Does anyone else have any information on this? Why *hasn't* this been on
tweeters, with all the attention we paid to the Everett colony? This is a
much more serious problem, it seems to me. Who dredged it (Corps of
Engineers?)? How could they get away with it?
