A great time was had by all last night. Another 40 feet of shoreline was
cleared and the existing areas finished off. Thanks to all who came along,
it's greatly appreciated.

The cleared shorelines seem to have settled down and now more birds are using
the new habitat. Last nights totals were:

8 short-billed dowitchers - eventually identified by call after much angst :-)
2 least sandpipers
2 western sandpipers
1 killdeer

Getting better.

A good example of what we would like to achieve is the Kent Ponds - a great
place to go birding just now as the ponds dry out loads of shorebirds
including a female ruff (reeve). Montlake may never be that good but it gives
a good example of the pool of birds flying over the area and so potentially
attracted to the ponds.
