In regards to a previous postings on contaminant uptake in fish and birds.
My understanding is that Fish & Wildlife is planning to look at contaminant
body burdens in surf scoter in Commencement Bay as part of an on-going study.
They've spent the previous two winters marking/tracking some birds to
establish their wintering locations, e.g., do they stay in Commencement Bay,
generally, do some stay in proximity to one or more waterways, etc... I
believe they've established enough of this geographic distribution info, and
they intend to sample Commencement Bay scoter tissue this winter.

This is work-in-progress so I don't think there's any documentation yet, if
anyone is interested in more details, a contact person is Alicia (sp?) Ralph

(Hi Teresa, small world, didn't know you were a birder all those years....)
