tried, but being in exile in Forks ultimately did me in -- thanks to
unexpected job delays I didn't get away in time to make the drive to
Carkeek before you all headed for the microbrews. (Don, I hope you found
the local offerings up to Portland standards!)

Chris -- I'm with you. Not an expert on juvenile gulls, but I've also seen
the Californians you describe at La Push. It was a little earlier in the
summer (precise date not at hand), and there has been an overall
interesting parade of gull species in that area.

BTW, adult Bonaparte's at Port Townsend last weekend ...
