One of the birds I most closely associate with above timberline hiking.
The ones on this continent have been (It's already happened, hasn't it?
Help me here someone) split off from the Old World Water Pipit, and are
now known as the American Pipit (typically creative modern nomenclature,
eh? I'm amazed they failed to work "Northern" in somehow). I have it on
good faith from Someone Who Knows that they really are different critters.
