CONCORD,Calif.---A young hummingbird who considered Asaad Liebig,11, a
likely nesting spot clung to his curly hair for three hours before
teachers were able to pluck it free.

Asaad found the dazed young bird on the ground at recess on Wednesday.

When he brought it to class, his teacher asked him to take it
outside, but the bird the size of Asaad's thumb, hopped onto his head,
nestled into his hair and refused to budge.

Teachers eventually pried the tiny creature free and took it to
an expert: Sandy Fender, the Alexander Lindsay Museum's wildlife
supervisor, wo said the bird probably tried to fly too soon and tumbled
from its nest, then settled on Asaad's head as the tallest thing around.

I shudder to think what Don Baccus might have done with that one...
