Regarding "Common" Nighthawks west of the Cascade Crest: I still consider them
to be relatively common here in Port Angeles and other selected areas on the
Olympic Peninsula. Perhaps due to our diligence in keeping those early
successional clearcuts in the early successional state? ;-)
