This is a report on a trip from Ellensburg down the Yakima River Canyon
to Selah and up to the Wenas Campground and Back to Ellensburg on
Saturday, June 3, 1995.

In Yakima River Canyon at the first large cliff on the left (east) side of
the road/river:
Cliff Swallows & nests.
Starlings in & out of little caves.
Rock Doves. (RODO?)
Red-winged Blackbirds
Mountain goats, including several babies.

At Umtanum Recreation Area at suspension foot bridge:
Cliff Swallows
Barn Swallows building nest under bridge.
Tree Swallow ??
American Robin
Song sparrow

Along Yakima river:
Common Nighthawks
Red-winged Blackbirds
Brewers Blackbirds
Bullocks Oriole
Eastern Kingbird
Northern Flicker

N. Wenas road a couple miles north of Selah:
Red-tailed Hawks, two birds doing talon-to-talcon aerobatics.
Swainson's Hawk, moved in on RTHA's and they moved on.
Ring-billed Gull

Wenas Lake public fishing area:
Ring-billed Gulls
Barn Swallows
Red-winged Blackbirds
Brewer's Blackbirds
Spotted Sandpiper

Wenas Campground:
White-headed Woodpecker, on tree and in nest hole.
Western Wood Pewee including one on a nest.
House Wren
Western Bluebird feeding fully fledged, airworthy young.
Calliope Hummingbird
Turkey Vulture soaring north of the campground.
Nashville Warbler
Female Yellow Warbler
Stellar's Jay
White-breasted Nuthatch
Black-headed Grosbeak
Dark-eyed Junco (heard only)
Evening Grosbeak

Along Audubon Road & at Wenas Junction:
Eastern Kingbird
Western Kingbird

On I-90 near Cl Elum
Osprey flying low along freeway median carrying a 10" to 14" fish
