Etc. Having seen western kingbirds nest right on the top of transformers,
is it possible they're a bit warm? Would that seem attractive to
them?

Or, is it just the nice, flat surface with good visibility in all
directions, and a nice height from the ground? With good hunting
perches everywhere - wires!
