When I read about the Green Heron's in the tops of trees, it reminded me
of the 1st one I ever saw. I was driving W. on Gunderson Rd in Mt Vernon
& noticed a medium sized bird with an unusual flight pattern (wing-beat).
It was flying in a generally Northern direction, so I turned North on Hwy
9 & followed it as best as I could. When it turned slightly NW I turned
West on the 1st road that went west and pursued it as best as the roads
would allow. When I finally caught up close enough to stop the car and
get out my binocs--IT LANDED IN THE TOP OF A FIR TREE DIRECTLY OPPOSITE
OF ME and let me ENJOY it's beauty. Birds -- gotta love 'em!
It was the most accommodating bird I ever tracked!
