I read the band numbers in the field, from a distance of about 20 feet. Given
that these movements seem to be so unusual, there must be some doubt over the
authenticity of the report, either:

a) I mis-read the numbers - there are two birds involved so this seems
unlikely, although possible.

b) The bands numbers are incorrect - this has happened with British Trust for
Ornithology bands.

c) The birds were transported as you suggest.

d) The record is genuine. This is not the first time I've heard of such
bizarre movements :-)


I am confident read the numbers correctly, so transportation is a likely
explanation - could you elaborate on how this occurs ?
