Hi Tweeters
The Costa's Hummingbird at 783 Dominion St. in Port Coquitlam just E of
Vancouver BC was not at the feeders today, his first full-day absence since
his arrival on May 02, and second lengthy gap in his attendance. Recently
there's been wet, cool weather this bird has been absent. He sat very close
to the feeders yesterday (sunny), and fluffed out for some length of time.
Is our Cascadian weather getting to this little desert mite? Is he suffering
the cold? Is this likely to snuff him? Or is he just conserving energy for a
flight back south? Any wisdom on when male Costa's head for their wintering
grounds?
