Canary seed sold in the UK is/was grown in the mediterranean and north
Africa. One of the more interesting seeds in the mix was marajuana. The
pot-heads used to buy the stuff by the ton, sort out all the seeds and grow
their own.

I think more effective use of herbicides put a stop to that little scam.

I also know a bakery in Glasgow, Scotland that used to put hashish in the
bread - I'm told it is wonderful. To that I can give the presidential respone
"I didn't inhale ^H^H^H swallow" :-)

Is there any chance the the seed might be contaminated by a mold or fungus. I
know that peanut kernels sometimes have molds growing on them which produce
aflotoxins. These are known to poison birds when exposed to them over "long"
periods of time.
