Before beginning this, I contacted the Center for Urban Horticulture and
spoke to Prof. Kern Ewing, who is in charge of operations at the FIll,
specifically to ask whether this was going to interfere with any program that
CUH might have.
I was told that there were no projects at this stage, that control of
loosetrife was an on-going process and there were no problems with my removing
the stuff.
There is absolutely no "mucking around".
There seems to be some concern, given the recent discussion on tweeters over
management of the Fill, that this is "compromising" CUH control/authority over
what is done. My time is entirely voluntary is that helps stimulate interest
in CUH's volunteer program then that would be great.
