Well the hour is almost here when I heard off to the frozen North to do some
HARD CORE science with a bunch of other drunken Scotsmen and "Nordmannen fra
Finnmark". Hopefully the snow will have melted by next week.

Breaking with tradition, I thought I'd let you know in advance some of the
cool tundra birds I am going to band, etc:

Little Stint
Temmincks Stint
Golden Plover
Red-necked Phalarope
Dunlin
Broad-billed Sandpiper
Ruff

Bluethroat
Lapland Longspur
Snow Bunting
Northern Wheatear
Red-throated Pipit

Long-tailed Jaeger
Parasitic Jaeger

King Eider
Steller's Eider

And in the taiga:

Bar-tailed Godwit
Greenshank
Spotted Redshank
Wood Sandpiper
Green Sandpiper

The list of things to see goes on and on, but rather than make you jealous. I
thought I'd better stop.

Well have fun when I'm off. It would be nice to some back to see Montlake
Fill declared a loosetrife free zone, sigh.

It will be really cold, wet and horrible - you wouldn't like it ;-)

It will be really hard trying to adjust to temperatures in the 30's when I
get there and temperatures in the 80's when I return.

Take care,

Stuart
