In answer to your question, the bird is being tube fed nutrients and
antibiotics orally through atube which bypasses the infected area. The bird
is isolated in a small container but is hand-held during feeding. It is old
enough to be beyond the imprinting stage. I don't think imprinting is a
problem after the first couple of weeks after hatching.

The Monday AM report from the Zoo Animal Health staff is that the bird is
still active and alert and still being given food and antibiortic via a
feeding tube. Her mouth lesion is still the most serious problem and that
condition is unchanged since the last report. The prognosis is still
guarded.

As I write this I understand Ernie Rose is down at WAMU investigating a
mandible problem with the other female.
